
Welcome to the Learning Hub for the Developing Leadership for Diversity, Inclusion, Equity, and Belonging: Summer Academy 2021. This is a Genuine Contact Way workshop.
This page is the Learning Hub for the module and includes details on all of the components. The learning package includes 6 segments. Approximate times for your work with each segment are suggested, totaling approximately 35 hours of guided learning. Additional information about each segment can be found further down this Learning Hub page.
This program includes 10 segments with your self-study pre-workshop learning available soon. Segments 1-3 must be completed prior to the real-time learning. The remaining self-study segments can be completed prior to May 31 or you can plan to do one segment per day as homework between our real-time sessions. Whatever your preferred approach, we will be using the outputs of your self-study work as the starting place for our learning each day.

Segment 1: Getting Ready for Your Learning
Suggested Time: 1 hour | For self-study prior to the rest of your learning
Prepare for your learning experience through a series of readiness exercises. Getting ready for your learning might not be something you’ve thought much about before. We believe taking some time before starting a workshop to get in touch with your personal readiness for learning is an important way to set the foundation for focusing and deepening your learning for the best possible outcomes.
This segment guides you through a simple exercise to focus your intention for the rest of the learning package. The video is 24 minutes and will take approximately 1 hour to view and complete the exercises.
Segment 2: Welcome and Orientation
Suggested Time: 15 minutes | For self-study prior to the rest of your learning
Welcome to Segment 2 of the learning package for Developing Leadership for Working with Diversity, Inclusion, Equity, Belonging & Fitting In. You are welcome to your learning journey. In this video, we orient you to your learning materials, the intended progress you will make with your self-study materials, and what to expect in the real-time sessions.
The video is 10 minutes and will take approximately 10-15 minutes to view and prepare for your learning with the remaining materials.
Segment 3: Discernment: Developing Clarity and Insight
Suggested Time: 15 minutes | For self-study and to be completed prior to May 31
Always, in working the Genuine Contact way, we go slow at the start of any undertaking. Why? Think of building a skyscraper. If you begin at the ground level and build up, you have an unstable building with no foundation. A skyscraper needs as much of a deep foundation as it is going to be tall in order to have sufficient stability. We go slow to develop the foundation so that whatever is built has a solid foundation of support.
The video is 32 minutes and will take approximately 2 hours to view and prepare for your learning with the remaining materials.
Segment 4: Readiness: Life Nourishing Climate
Suggested Time: 15 minutes | For self-study
It takes emotional control to do this work. At the same time, this work requires you to be your genuine self, your whole self. This may seem paradoxical to you. So the question is ‘how can you achieve emotional control and simultaneously be your genuine self, your whole self? One part of the solution? A life nourishing climate.
The video is 17 minutes and will take approximately 1 hour to view and prepare for your learning with the remaining materials.
Segment 5: Engagement: Change is Led from the Inside
Suggested Time: 15 minutes | For self-study
During this segment, we guide you to examine your personal engagement for working with Fitting In, Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging. In this work, you are more important than any tools and techniques and processes that you use. Some people say that you are the most important tool. The change you lead begins with you.
The video is 12 minutes and will take approximately 1 hour to view and prepare for your learning with the remaining materials.
Segment 6: Construction: Four Frameworks
Suggested Time: 15 minutes | For self-study
As we continue on through the Evolutionary Spiral as a framework to guide your thinking, we are now in the level that is about construction. One objective of the real time session is for you to come away with a plan that you have constructed for working in an organization that has as its goal the conditions for people to experience inclusion and belonging. In this segment, we guide you to developing an understanding of four frameworks that we will use together in the real time session.
The video is 19 minutes and will take approximately 10-15 minutes to view and prepare for your learning with the remaining materials.
Segment 7: Implementation: Keeping the Growth of the Organization in Mind
Suggested Time: 15 minutes | For self-study
In this segment, we explore what is necessary for implementing your plans for working with diversity, inclusion, equity, belonging, and fitting in. This exploration is through frameworks that consider the different stages of development of an organization through 2 frameworks.
Segment 8: Monitoring & Adjustment: Working with the Organization and the Individual
Suggested Time: 15 minutes | For self-study
With implementation underway, the work now is monitoring and adjustment. Monitoring is active. Mechanisms need to be put in place for monitoring. These mechanisms need to consider both the organization and the individuals within the organization. If things get off-kilter, the focus cannot be on blame and shame. Blame and shame would enhance life-depleting conditions. Rather, the focus needs to be on course correction to get back onto the chosen path. Growth and development need to take place as part of adjustment.

Segment 9: Real-Time Learning
6 x 3 hours | Facilitated Group Work Experience | May 31 - June 6, 2021, 9am-12pm EDT

This live learnshop was your opportunity to work together with others in developing your leadership for Diversity, Inclusion, Equity, and Belonging.
Facilitation method for the workshop: Whole Person Process Facilitation, designed for the learning styles of the adult learner. The workshop will be online using the meeting platform QiqoChat and login details will be provided 1 hour before the start-time each week. If you would like a simple orientation to QiqoChat, please login 10 minute prior to our start time.

Segment 10: Real-Time Mentoring Circle
3 hours | Facilitated Group Work Experience | January 20, 2022 | 9 am – 12 pm EST
One of the things we believe in all of our training is that having ongoing learning opportunities is critical for learning retention, application of your skills, and continually growing your skills and capacities.
When you have the opportunity to gather with others who have also learned a particular skillset – to share your experiences, wisdom and insights and to ask questions where you still have more to learn – it offers all participants a possibility for ongoing and deepened learning. As part of our commitment to ongoing learning for your leadership development, you are encouraged to participate in a mentoring circle with a focus on Developing Leadership for Diversity, Inclusion, Equity, and Belonging, January 20, 2022, from 9:00 am to 12 noon EST.
