These are the ethics of the International Genuine Contact Organization – how we commit to showing up as an organization. They're not requirements for members in their own work, nor for those who engage with us as participants, clients, or employers.

Our ethics are rooted in the foundations of the Genuine Contact Way – the beliefs, values, and key concepts that guide everything we do. Members who wish to commit to a professional standard for working the Genuine Contact Way will find that in our Quality Commitment.

  1. We develop unique approaches with each organization. We listen to and follow what emerges from the people doing the work, bringing our expertise to support their path forward rather than fitting them into a pre-designed program.
  2. We create space for people to make their own choices and follow their own paths. We foster conditions where people can access the capacity and capability within themselves and their organization, and where that capacity can grow.
  3. We honor each person as precious. We ensure everyone who participates has the opportunity for their voice to be heard and to contribute.
  4. We meet what each moment requires. We stay present through difficulty and possibility, taking the time needed to meet the needs of people and the organization.
  5. We commit to approaches that are focused on long term results. We keep things simple and support improvements now that have lasting effects rather than pursuing quick results or adding unnecessary complexity. The work creates effects that extend beyond the immediate engagement.
  6. We honor and respect the Genuine Contact brand and methodology. When using Genuine Contact tools, concepts, and materials, we:
    • Clearly credit their origin and connection to the Genuine Contact way of working
    • Maintain the integrity of core frameworks (such as the Medicine Wheel Tool) by using their proper names and acknowledging their roots
    • Represent the work authentically rather than rebranding or significantly altering foundational elements for our own purposes
    • Orient ourselves to what the Genuine Contact brand represents as per the brand book and stay aligned with it in our public-facing work
  7. We maintain transparency in our organizational practices. We make our core documents accessible and clearly communicate what we have in place, what we're working toward, and how decisions are made within our organization.
  8. We engage relationally and show up as whole people. We are in genuine contact with ourselves and others to the extent we're able in all our interactions.
