This approach is built on the understanding that sustainable organizational development rests on foundations that matter: the worldviews, principles, concepts, laws, and values that guide decisions and shape culture. When these foundations are clear and intentionally chosen, organizations can maintain their integrity through all manner of change.
The work explores fundamental questions that shape how organizations operate. What worldview about organizations are you working from, and what alternatives exist? What principles – whether explicit or implicit – are influencing your organization? What laws govern how systems work, like the whole being greater than the sum of its parts? What values will anchor your organization through transformation? These aren't abstract philosophical questions; they're practical inquiries that directly affect how you design structures, make decisions, and develop organizational capacity.
Through experiential learning, you'll develop skills and knowledge for guiding organizations using this holistic approach, working with simple multi-purpose tools from the Genuine Contact toolkit. You'll create a roadmap for your ideal organization, grounded in conscious choices about the foundations that will support both current effectiveness and long-term flourishing.
You will leave this experiential, interactive workshop equipped with:
- Understanding of different worldviews about organizations and clarity about which worldview guides your work
- Knowledge of how principles influence organizational life and capacity to choose principles suited to your context
- Familiarity with organizational development concepts and approaches that support sustainable futures
- Understanding of systems laws and their implications for organizational design and development
